Inspiration: In the Bible, there was a story of a rich man and a poor man. The poor man was called Lazarus and was a beggar who was laid at the rich man’s gate. The rich man did not help Lazarus. This scripture tells us that after the rich man died, he cried out for answers but did not receive anything from the Lord. (Luke 16:19-31)

Inspiration: A South African farmer and his wife heard God’s voice calling him to come to Canada to start a missionary organization. He “leaned not on his own understanding” as he hated cold weather and loved the heat of Africa. God directed his path to Canada to start a Missionary Outreach. Since then, God has blossomed this ministry all across Canada which has touched the lives of thousands of people through this couple’s complete obedience.

Inspiration: I have been in a church service when the Holy Spirit spoke directly to people through the Bible. I now see that it is the responsibility of the listener to be keenly aware of the words being spoken, not only the words of the Holy Bible, but also the words God will speak to them directly through prayer if they are paying attention.

Inspiration: Even though the apostle Peter denied Jesus three times, he was chosen by God to take a leadership role in the birth of Christianity. Jesus told Peter that Satan had desired to sift him as wheat but that He, Jesus had prayed for him. This gives us encouragement that when we keep our eyes on Jesus, obeying His plan for our lives, He can keep us from falling and present us to God the Father in heaven.

Inspiration: A man who did not have more than an eighth grade education became a multi-millionaire with the help of God. He also helps feed the poor and because of his diligence in the Lord’s work, God has made him rich.

Inspiration: A husband was in hospital following heart surgery when his wife got a call in the middle of the night to say that her husband’s condition was critical and that she needed to come immediately. As she drove to the hospital, fear gripped her. She remembered the scripture, Fear is not of God. Fear is insufficient trust in God. This gave her peace of mind as she watched her husband pass through the critical stage on to recovery.

Inspiration: My grandparents honoured their father and mother all their lives and they lived a long time on this earth. In my grandmother’s later years, she required much nursing care which became tedious. My mother looked after my grandmother in those tough times and in doing so, she honoured this commandment. Inspiration: A worship leader was praying the Lord’s prayer and when he came to the part “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”, he asked God for wisdom to bring Heaven’s worship down to earth. This Christian started to ask for songs that were sung in heaven so that they could be sung on earth. He also asked God for new heavenly musical instruments to be invented by Christians on earth so that more glory could go to God.

Inspiration: In Acts Chapters 27 and 28, the Apostle Paul went through a major test even though he tried to warn the leaders of the danger that lay ahead. Paul and the rest of the 275 people on the ship had to endure a terrible storm which in those days often meant death. The ship ended up being wrecked on an island where Paul, while helping to build a fire, was bitten by a poisonous snake. The islanders were amazed that the snake’s bite did not harm him. Later Paul prayed for one of the island leaders who was sick and Jesus healed that man. Through these trials the island of Malta saw the power of Christ.

Inspiration: A Christian businessman uses this scripture to help in the trials of life. He also read in the Bible that heaven is Jesus’ throne and earth is His footstool and thought about Jesus putting His feet up on the earth as a footstool. As he pondered on the size of His feet (in this image of Jesus using the earth as His footstool), he saw how powerful Jesus is and how evil can never defeat the Christian that calls on Jesus to rescue him.

Inspiration: A Christian had water sprinkled on him as a baby but he thought he needed to be water baptized as an adult since as a baby, baptism meant nothing to him. As he thought about being baptized in water, he became nervous of what others might think of him. When he learned that water baptism involved going under the water to die to self and being raised from the water was to live a new life for Jesus, he asked to be water baptized. He then understood how important dying to self was.

Inspiration: A church leader taught on prayer being the most important part of a Christian’s life and to ask God for His Holy Spirit’s anointing during prayer time. He said try to pray an hour a day and use the Lord’s prayer as your main prayer. When praying the Lord’s prayer, he said do not rush through it but take each sentence and apply it to as many situations as the Holy Spirit shows you. For example, the sentence “Thy Kingdom come” can be prayed, “Thy Kingdom come on our government, Thy Kingdom Come on all governments, Thy will be done in my family’s life, Thy Will be done in our church as it is in heaven.”

Inspiration: A single man who had just become a Christian was set up on a blind date by one of his non-Christian friends. He invited this blind date over for dinner and after dinner discovered this woman liked to sleep around. She made gestures of wanting sex; however, this Christian would have no part of it and ended the evening abruptly. He discovered he could not date non-Christian women since they would only pull him away from Jesus.

Inspiration: A woman from another religion was raped by a man with known HIV Aids virus. This devastated woman went to the doctor to have her blood tested and received the terrible news that the man who raped her had given her the HIV Aids virus. This woman came to our Bible study and asked for prayer. She became a Christian and Jesus healed her. She went back to the doctors for more blood tests to prove that her blood was now pure. The doctors confirmed the miracle as she was now given clearance to work her job again. I saw her a year after her healing and she was as strong and healthy as ever.

Inspiration: A Bible teacher was speaking on the Holy Spirit. He said the Holy Spirit, who is a person, is the power source of God on earth. Inspiration: An evangelist and his team were called by God to witness in a rough area of town. This team felt God’s presence on them as they had spent a long time in prayer before they went out. As they walked down the streets sharing with the people coming out of bars, they came across a man who pulled a gun on them. The evangelist said “No weapon formed against me shall prosper” and God knocked the gun out of this man’s hand. The team then told the man about Jesus.

Inspiration: A 20 year old lady told us she would never forgive the man who raped her a few years back. We explained to her that Jesus wanted her to forgive that man. Even though she could not forgive him on her own, we told her that Jesus would give her His strength to be able to forgive him. Three months later I saw this same lady and she was overjoyed to tell me that she did forgive the man that raped her and that God was blessing her life ever since.

Inspiration: At the end of a church service, my friend went forward to the altar to ask for prayer. On the way home he felt this inner joy bubbling up from the inside of him and he started to praise God with a new heavenly language. He received God’s baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Inspiration: I met a young girl who was healed of cerebral palsy. Her mother told me that some Christians prayed for her daughter and Jesus healed her of that disease. Inspiration: There was a time when I was sick and could not attend church. My parents had a church service at home for me and we had communion. This communion was special since it was not rushed. We took time to think of the price Jesus paid for us while we took the bread. Then we meditated on the cup thanking God that it is only by Jesus’ sinless blood that our sins can be forgiven. It was an intimate reverent time as we thought on all Jesus had done for us.

Inspiration: We were sharing Jesus in the poor areas of town when we came across a lady who had polio for the last 42 years as she contracted the disease when she was a baby. Polio had struck her arm which made it very skinny and her hand was like a claw which could not pick up anything. We prayed for her and Jesus healed her polio before our eyes. We visited her again and she showed us the miracle as she was holding a potato in her healed hand, something she had never done before in her life.

Inspiration: A truck driver was driving his truck in the right lane on the highway when a small car from the far left lane made a four-lane change and crashed into his truck at high speed. The truck driver stopped and ran over to the car and saw that the driver was dead since he was not breathing. The truck driver was a Christian and prayed “Jesus if this man is going to hell, I command him to come back to life.” The man in the car then coughed and started breathing. He was taken to hospital and later received Jesus into his heart.

Inspiration: A man in his twenties dedicated his life to the Lord and wanted all God had in store for him. He asked for the baptism of the Holy Spirit and for all nine gifts of the Holy Spirit (see 1 Corinthians Chapter 12) to operate through him as God willed. Inspiration: A Christian farmer who tithed to the Lord, lived between two farmers who did not tithe. All these farmers had the same crop. One year a swarm of locusts came and ate the crops on the first farmer’s field, flew over the Christian’s field in the middle and continued eating the farmer’s crops on the other side. The farmers were amazed at how the field in the middle had not been touched by the locusts. The Christian said God protected him because he tithed generously to the Lord.

Inspiration: A woman was abandoned by her husband, leaving her to raise two children by herself. For over ten years she had no husband but learned to trust the Lord. Her great desire was to find a husband that would never leave her, and she wrote this prayer request in her diary. Later on, God linked up these two people in marriage and they compared their journals to prove this scripture verse is true.

Inspiration: I have observed politicians cutting down their opponents and I became so discouraged at this behavior that I stopped paying attention to politics in general. This was wrong on my part. This criminal met with the church leader later and the power of God fell on him and received Jesus into his heart. He felt God tell him that he would be protected. After he got out of prison, he now goes to prisons and travels around the world preaching about Jesus. His bad past was cleansed in Jesus’ blood.

Inspiration: A prototype of this calendar was on a doctor’s desk lying open to this day’s scripture. As the patient read the scripture, she burst into tears because she felt that God was comforting her and telling her that He would always be with her. The doctor gave her the calendar since he saw that she was so blessed by it. This doctor and his wife have helped distribute this calendar so that God’s Kingdom would be advanced.

Inspiration: More and more events for children are run on weekends and parents seem to be taking their children to these events and skipping going to church. Inspiration: A man from Africa shared a story about Jesus’ protection and living by faith. As a boy, he was walking through the woods in his country one day when a boa constrictor fell down from a tree on top of him and quickly wrapped itself around his body to squeeze him to death. He was so scared all he could do was to call on the name of the Lord. As he said the word “Jesus,” the snake started to unwind itself from his body and slithered off. There was no one else around so he knew Jesus rescued him.

Inspiration: An Accounts Manager wanted to buy a house since he was in a small apartment. God gave him a vision of a house with a stop sign in front of it. The stop sign covered half the house. The Holy Spirit put on his heart to prepare for Bible College and not to buy the house. At the time he left for Bible College, he looked at the Real Estate market and found the whole economy was down. He praised God he did not buy that house but used the money for Bible College instead.

Inspiration: I get so blessed to see families that truly worship God at Christmas and don’t get caught up with Santa Claus and Frosty the Snowman. I was in a house one time when a video on the life of Jesus was put on the TV. When the four year old daughter saw Jesus (in the video) on TV, she danced all over the room saying Jesus, Jesus, Jesus and then ran to the TV set and kissed the screen thinking she was kissing Jesus. This was true worship that not only blessed me but I am sure blessed God also.

Inspiration: Many Christians today live in safe environments where their lives are not threatened on a daily basis. I spent a lot of time at Bible College with a man from Bagdad, Iraq. He became a Christian during the Gulf War in the early 1990s. He told me what it is like to live in Iraq. I pray for him since his life is in danger now that he has completed Bible College and is back in the Middle East.

Inspiration: A worship leader wrote a song about Jesus giving His life for us. These lyrics revealed: Jesus being spat upon, struck in the face, mocked and crowned with thorns. The song goes on to tell about the lashes ripping open His back, the nails driven through His hands and feet, and the agony of hanging on the cross, in humility, pain, and suffering while taking on our sins. The song ends with a triumphant phrase that the tomb is empty and that Jesus has resurrected from the dead! People need to visualize the price Jesus paid in laying down His life for us as well as the joy that He is alive today ready to talk to us!

Inspiration: One Christian had a vision of unity. The vision had each member of the Christian team coming from a different Catholic and Protestant denomination. The denomination name was on the back of each sweater. Jesus was the captain of the Christian team and said “I have already won the victory for you on the cross, so go out and claim your victory.” Devils made up the opposing team. Each member of the Christian team appreciated each other as they needed to work together to claim the victory against the opposition. Each Christian team member knew they were like soldiers on the same side. They were God’s army.

Inspiration: One Bible teacher spoke on the gift of tongues, interpretation and prophecy. The teacher explained that these words from God are not generated in your head but are from the Spirit of God talking to your spirit. Young Christians often can not distinguish between their own thoughts and God’s thoughts as they have not studied enough of God’s Word (the Bible) and have not been taught on the discerning of spirits. Inspiration: In recent days there has been more teaching on prayer and intercession as people are learning to pray in the Holy Spirit. This type of prayer is very powerful as some churches started to pray and intercede for their city to stop the gang violence and crime and to bring the power of God to their city. A drug dealer was on his way to kill someone, and as he was going by one of these churchs, he felt compelled to pull into the parking lot. He didn’t know what was overcoming him and he went inside the church while the service was on and he gave his life to Jesus. This drug dealer then confessed his sins to the police.

Inspiration: God spoke to a salesman and called him to Bible College. He had been with a big firm for seven years and was one of the company’s top salesmen. This man wanted God’s work and witness to be continued at this company. He set up a meeting with five other Christians where he worked, and told them that he was leaving for Bible College. He passed on the torch to them and said to them that they were to carry on being Jesus’ light in the workplace.

Inspiration: This scripture is helpful for choirs and musicians as many of them get over anxious, making sure every note is in tune and played correctly. This self centeredness makes it hard for people to spontaneously bow their knee to Jesus during worship because they are more concerned what other think than what Jesus thinks. On the other hand, I have been in a service where everyone was humbly and passionately worshipping Jesus when a glory cloud (similar to what is described in the Old Testament) appeared in the church and was seen by all. We all knew this was from God as His power was evident.

Inspiration: The Bible says that Christians are the sons and daughters of God. Then when a Christian man marries a Christian woman, he is to look after one of God’s daughters. Likewise the wife is to look after one of God’s sons. This brings in a new depth to their marriage.
